Upon arrival (8/28/2010) Lucky had a severe Rear Leg wound and was very near death. He had an old Tshirt wrapped around his wound that smelled of Pure Bleach. He was several hundred pounds underweight and we began immediate emergency care for this wonderful guy. When he arrived he was a calm, low spirited horse with sullen eyes. Today, he is a spunky, energetic, & handsome fellow!! We are so excited that after months of veterinary care, one small veterinary operation to remove some proud flesh, water therapy, medications, and some slow introduction of good quality feed later he is Healed and Healthy!!! Way to go Lucky! His journey to life is a true inspiration for us!!

UPDATE AND CURRENT PHOTO OF LUCKY:

DOPEY (Bat)
Bat is a Tennessee Walker that arrived at Wild Horse Rescue Inc. as a nurse mare orphan that we received from Last Chance Corral. He is a very trusting and sweet guy who loves attention. At 3 years old, his new family found him. He is now living his life with all the love and attention that he deserves. We are so proud of him and excited about his new life with the Masterson family. Thank you for opening your hearts and making Bat a part of your family!!

Johnny came to us as an owner surrender because his previous owner was afraid of working with mustangs. He was a 20+ year old stallion and even after his gelding he wanted to ensure he remained a stallion at heart. Buddy quickly gained his title as herd leader in our herd of 45+ horses and remained in charge until his adoption by another fellow mustang lover. Buddy made an impression on her heart and she decided he was the perfect choice to give a forever loving home to. She is a wonderful example of how quickly and beautifully a bond can be made between Mustang and Human. We love her and her ability to understand and love Buddy for being the prideful and intelligent horse that he is. Thank you L.D.!

SOPHIE & WILDFIRE
Sophie and Wildfire both came to Wild Horse Rescue as owner surrenders from separate families. They were adopted by the Adkins family and are now lifelong buddies. They will live out their lives happy, carefree, loved, and spoiled rotten. We are extremely thankful for the Adkins family and their adoption of these two beauties. They are excellent 1st time horse owners and both horses are now very healthy and well cared for.

TOUGHNUT
Toughnut is Our Survivor!! Some of his photos may be graphic but, we do not want to sugar coat some of the neglect and abuse that we see and deal with on a daily basis. He was brought home to our rescue On May 21, 2009 after being abandoned by his previous owners and apparently left for dead. His back injuries were so extensive he actually lost some bone which was removed from his back. Without the amazing work of Betty Davison (our President & Founder), & the numerous prayers being answered, Toughnut would no longer be able to grace us with his presence on this earth. He has a loving heart and soul and has inspired us to never give up even when it gets extremely tough. It is amazing that this tough horse survived his injuries and through it all, remains just as sweet and loving as he can be. We thank God and Betty for allowing this wonderful horse a second chance for a life of carefree happiness. After extensive rehabilitation, he has recovered and will be permanent resident at our hilltop farm.
