Whoa a horsey!! Last year brought us a cold, hard winter and we pulled through it with our whole herd doing fairly well. We are thankful that it is time to bring in Spring and what better way to do so than to prepare for Swap Days in Lucasville, Oh April 9-10th?!?! Everyone please visit us under our yellow umbrella near the south entrance!! Everyone spotted wearing a one of our yellow T-shirts will be entered into a raffle for a prize!!! Wear your shirts and support our wonderful organization!! We will be wearing ours! Also, on another note...Our 990N has been filed and available to the public. As always, all financial details are available to the public and our final numbers for all cash, feed, and hay donations last year totaled $24,472.55!! Whoo hoo!! That is slightly better than our first year and we are still barely scraping by. With all the kind people on our community, we will keep on keeping on to help save these horses!! Our largest donations were from The Eagles and Lewis Family. We thank God for them keeping because they kept our horses fed and hay in the bellies. On another positive note, with the help of Kim Kinder and others who help advertise our adoptable horses, we successfully placed 8 horses into loving homes in 2010. Our new goal for 2011 is to place at least 10 and to help other rescues with their re-homing as well. As of today, we have already found wonderful homes for 5 and are halfway to our goal for the year. Wild Horse Rescue Inc cannot thank everyone enough for everything! Just when we thought we would have to give up on our mission and close the rescue... This community has pulled together and done amazing work for the organization. Our donors, volunteers, friends, and family are all sincerely appreciated and loved. It takes an entire community of our fellow rescues/sanctuaries to accomplish the goal of keeping the horses healthy and safe. We could not have done this alone. Thank You!!

This weekend we had our first ever "official" fund-raising event. We set up a Yard Sale at Portsmouth Feed & Supply on 2nd St. in Portsmouth, Oh with donated items for sale. Overall the 2 days were a huge success and we had several people from the community who came out and really showed their support. This organization is very grateful for everyone who enabled this yard sale to be a success. Special Thank you to Portsmouth Feed for their generosity, supplying the tables, & allowing us to set up on their property. We are looking forward to doing another Yard Sale in the future and connecting with our wonderful community.

We hosted our 1st free seminar at the farm that displayed the basics of desensitizing and proper use of a "friendly stick". We had about 10 people in attendance to brave the hot summer sun with us and we are very thankful for everyone who came to share in gaining more horse knowledge. Our future seminars will be held under some type of shelter if that can be arranged or during the much cooler fall days. Also, we would like to thank Angel and Twilight for being such sensible and intelligent Mustangs during the demonstrations. We are very proud of them both!!

Today we snagged the cover of the Portsmouth Daily Times. Sam Piatt did an excellent job in describing our needs and mission to everyone who could read it. We are so very grateful that we could get the word out a little more about needing loving homes for all of our rescue horses and donations to keep hay/feed in their bellies. If you missed the article, the link is below. Thank You!

June 2010 Swap/Trade Days

We were extremely successful in spreading the word about who we are and what we do for our rescue horses. It was so exciting to meet and make new horse loving friends that can appreciate, love, and care for the unwanted horses as much as we do. Our new T-shirts with the company logo and website address were more popular than we anticipated and we will surely bring more to the next Trade Days coming this fall. Thank You to everyone who came out and supported us this weekend!!
